Ariat International, commonly known as Ariat, is an American footwear, clothing, and accessories brand specializing in products for equestrian sports, Western lifestyles, work, and other outdoor activities. The company was founded in 1993 by Beth Cross and Pam Parker, who were classmates at Stanford Graduate School of Business. Based in California, Ariat was created with the goal of bringing athletic-shoe technology and performance-oriented design to riding boots.

Ariat’s first products were English and Western riding boots, and the brand later expanded into performance apparel, jeans, workwear, and other footwear. Its designs emphasize durability, comfort, and technical performance, combining traditional equestrian and Western styles with modern materials and construction. The company’s name is derived from Secretariat, the celebrated Thoroughbred racehorse.
